Chapter 18

1 Now after310 this3651 it came to pass,1961 that David1732 smote5221 853 the Philistines,6430 and subdued3665 them, and took3947 853 Gath1661 and her towns1323 out of the hand4480 3027 of the Philistines.6430

2 And he smote5221 853 Moab;4124 and the Moabites4124 became1961 David's1732 servants,5650 and brought5375 gifts.4503

3 And David1732 smote5221 853 Hadarezer1928 king4428 of Zobah6678 unto Hamath,2574 as he went1980 to establish5324 his dominion3027 by the river5104 Euphrates.6578

4 And David1732 took3920 from4480 him a thousand505 chariots,7393 and seven7651 thousand505 horsemen,6571 and twenty6242 thousand505 footmen:376 7273 David1732 also hamstrung6131 853 all3605 the chariot7393 horses, but reserved3498 of4480 them a hundred3967 chariots.7393

5 And when the Syrians758 of Damascus1834 came935 to help5826 Hadarezer1928 king4428 of Zobah,6678 David1732 slew5221 of the Syrians758 two8147 and twenty6242 thousand505 men.376

6 Then David1732 put7760 garrisons in Syria-damascus;758 1834 and the Syrians758 became1961 David's1732 servants,5650 and brought5375 gifts.4503 Thus the LORD3068 preserved3467 David1732 whithersoever3605 834 he went.1980

7 And David1732 took3947 853 the shields7982 of gold2091 that834 were1961 on5921 the servants5650 of Hadarezer,1928 and brought935 them to Jerusalem.3389

8 Likewise from Tibhath,4480 2880 and from Chun,4480 3560 cities5892 of Hadarezer,1928 brought3947 David1732 very3966 much7227 brass,5178 wherewith Solomon8010 made6213 853 the brazen5178 sea,3220 and the pillars,5982 and the vessels3627 of brass.5178

9 Now when Tou8583 king4428 of Hamath2574 heard8085 how3588 David1732 had smitten5221 853 all3605 the host2428 of Hadarezer1928 king4428 of Zobah;6678

12 Moreover Abishai52 the son1121 of Zeruiah6870 slew5221 853 of the Edomites123 in the valley1516 of salt4417 eighteen8083 6240 thousand.505

13 And he put7760 garrisons5333 in Edom;123 and all3605 the Edomites123 became1961 David's1732 servants.5650 Thus the LORD3068 preserved3467 853 David1732 whithersoever3605 834 he went.1980

14 So David1732 reigned4427 over5921 all3605 Israel,3478 and executed1961 6213 judgment4941 and justice6666 among all3605 his people.5971

15 And Joab3097 the son1121 of Zeruiah6870 was over5921 the host;6635 and Jehoshaphat3092 the son1121 of Ahilud,286 recorder.2142

16 And Zadok6659 the son1121 of Ahitub,285 and Abimelech40 the son1121 of Abiathar,54 were the priests;3548 and Shavsha7798 was scribe;5608

17 And Benaiah1141 the son1121 of Jehoiada3111 was over5921 the Cherethites3774 and the Pelethites;6432 and the sons1121 of David1732 were chief7223 about3027 the king.4428

3 И Хададэзера, царя Цовы, разбил у Хаматы Давид, когда Хададэзер отправился в поход, чтобы установить власть над землями у реки Евфрат.

4 Давид взял тогда в плен тысячу колесниц, семь тысяч всадников и двадцать тысяч пеших. Всем лошадям колесничным Давид подрезал сухожилия, оставив из них только коней для сотни колесниц.

5 Арамеи из Дамаска пришли на помощь Хададэзеру, царю Цовы, но Давид разбил то войско из двадцати двух тысяч арамеев.

6 Давид расположил [свои укрепленные посты] в Дамасском царстве арамеев, и арамеи оказалась в подчинении у Давида, платя ему дань. А ГОСПОДЬ оберегал Давида во всех его походах.

7 Давид взял золотые щиты, которые были у подданных Хададэзера, и принес их в Иерусалим.

8 Из Тивхата и Куна, городов Хададэзера, Давид взял очень много меди, из которой затем Соломон сделал медное «море», емкость для воды в Храме, колонны и другую медную утварь.

9 Когда Тоу, царь Хамата, услышал, что Давид разбил всё войско Хададэзера,

10 он послал к царю Давиду своего сына Хадорама просить у того мира и поблагодарить его за то, что он пошел войной на его врага Хададэзера и разбил его войско, ведь Хададэзер постоянно воевал с Тоу. Взял он с собой изделия из серебра, золота и меди.

11 Царь Давид посвятил и эти драгоценности ГОСПОДУ, вместе с серебром и золотом, захваченным у других народов: эдомитян, моавитян, аммонитян, филистимлян, амалекитян.

12 Авишай, сын Церуи, разбил войско в восемнадцать тысяч эдомитян в долине Соли.

13 Он поставил в Эдоме укрепленные посты, и оказались эдомитяне в подчинении у Давида, платя ему дань. А ГОСПОДЬ оберегал Давида во всех его походах.

14 Давид царствовал над всем Израилем, поступая со своим народом справедливо и праведно.

15 Йоав, сын Церуи, командовал войском; Иосафат, сын Ахилуда, был летописцем;
